Libertyville, Ill., December 18, 2018
– Hollister Incorporated announced its ceramide infused products, CeraPlus™ skin barriers  and Adapt CeraRing™ barrier rings received a 2018 Innovative Technology designation from Vizient, Inc., the largest member-driven health care performance improvement company in the country. The designation was based on the recommendations of health care experts serving on a member-led council who interacted with the product shown at the Vizient Innovative Technology Exchange held on Oct. 4, 2018. The council determined the technology had the potential to enhance clinical care, patient safety, health care worker safety, or improve business operations of health care organizations.

Peristomal skin health in ostomy care is extremely important. The condition of this skin greatly affects how well the skin barrier can adhere, as well as the general comfort and well-being of a person living with a stoma. The CeraPlus skin barrier is infused with ceramide, a naturally occurring lipid in the skin, which protects against dryness, and features a formulation to help protect the skin’s natural moisture barrier, maintain good peristomal skin health, and decrease transepidermal water loss from damaged or eroded skin. The Adapt CeraRing barrier rings offers the benefits of a ceramide-infused formulation and custom-fit shape options to help enhance the performance of both one and two-piece pouching systems.

“The importance of peristomal skin health in ostomy care can’t be overstated. More than half of those living with a stoma will report peristomal skin issues at some point in their lives and many even think that skin problems are a normal part of living with a stoma. Our mission is to make life more rewarding and dignified for the people who use our products and services. The CeraPlus skin barriers and Adapt CeraRing barrier rings help do just that,” said Brian Luedtke, Hollister Incorporated Senior Vice President, The Americas. “We are honored to be recognized with an Innovative Technology designation from Vizient.”

“The Vizient Innovative Technology Exchange offers suppliers the opportunity to demonstrate their products and gain direct feedback from hundreds of hospital experts who attend the annual event. Congratulations to Hollister Incorporated on receiving this status, based on the recommendation of the member council,” said Debbie Archer, director of procurement and Vizient Innovative Technology Program leader.
