Actor, model, businesswoman, and ostomy advocate LeeAnne Hayden shares a personal experience with leakage, how she dealt with it, and her thoughts on how to prevent leaks.
In this video, I share a very personal story of a leak I experienced, as well as some tips on how to prepare for leakage and what to do when it happens.
When your ostomy pouch leaks, it can be embarrassing and emotional. We all have a story or two that we can share. But leaks are not the end of the world. Thankfully, there are things you can do to prevent them, and to manage them if they do occur. It’s very important to avoid leaks so the skin around your stoma stays healthy.
If you are new to having an ostomy or will be getting one soon, you may have many questions about leakage, such as: Why do leaks happen? How often? How do I deal with them? Are there ostomy products I can use that will help keep them from occurring?
If you have any of these questions talk with your doctor or ostomy care nurse. You can also contact Hollister Secure StartSM services, or reach out to me on Instagram or through my website. We are always here for you!
